International Day of the World’s Indigenous People 

International Day of the World’s Indigenous People, also known as Native American Day, National Indigenous People's Day, Indian Day, American Indian Day, Indigenous People's Day, or International Day of Solidarity with Indigenous People. is a day honoring Native (indigenous) cultures and contributions to society.

The United Nations declared a International Day of the World’s Indigenous People on August 9th since 1994.

In Brazil, "National Indigenous People's Day" or Dia do Índio (Indian Day) is observed on April 19th.  The National Indian Festival in Bertioga, São Paulo is held on this date and is considered the largest indigenous cultural event in the world.

In the Philippines, Indigenous People's Day is observed on October 29th. It was created by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples in 2008.

In Ecuador, International Day of Solidarity with Indigenous People is observed on October 12th and is in oposition to Columbus Day.


In Many parts of the United States, Indigenous People's Day is a counter-celebration to Columbus Day and is also held on the second Monday of October..
