Friendship Day 

The first World Friendship Day was proposed in Paraguay on July 30th, 1958. In 2011 the General Assembly of the United Nations declared July 30th to be the official International Friendship Day.  Most countries, however, celebrate 

Friendship Day on the First Sunday in August (USA, Canada, India). It is usually observed with the exchange of Friendship Day Gifts like flowers, cards and wrist bands (friendship bracelets) is a popular tradition of this occasion.  Social Media has raised awareness of this holiday in the past few years.

National Women's Friendship Day 

In the United States, National Women's Friendship Day is observed on the third Sunday in September. The Kappa Delta Sorority created this day in 1999 to promote special friendship bonds among women.
