OKTOBERFEST
Oktoberfest is the world's largest beer festival and travelling funfair, or Volksfest, with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year.
It is held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, it is a 16-day folk festival running from late September to the first weekend in October.
However, if day 16 falls before October 3rd, German Unity Day, then the festival will continue until the 3rd.
Oktoberfest is known as Wiesn in Munich, the name of the fairgrounds where it is held.
Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture, held since 1810.
Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the original Munich event.
The festival is 17 days when the first Sunday is October 2nd and 18 days when it is October 1st.
The festival is held in a fairgrounds near Munich's center, named the Theresienwiese, locally called Wiesn for short.
Oktoberfest consists of fourteen large tents and twenty small tents.
Nearly 8 Million liters of Oktoberfest Beer are consumed during the 16 day festival.
The event also features amusement rides, sideshows, games, and a wide variety of traditional food and music.
Until 6:00 pm, the tents are only allowed to play music limited to 85 decibels, like traditional wind music.
Only after that will Schlager and pop music be played.
