Nebraska woman suing all homosexuals on behalf of 'God'
OMAHA (UPI) - A Nebraska woman filed a seven-page handwritten court brief detailing her lawsuit against all homosexuals on behalf of "God" and "his son, Jesus Christ." Sylvia Driskell, 66, of Auburn, filed a federal lawsuit Friday in Omaha asking for a federal judge to rule on whether or not homosexuality is a sin. Driskell's seven-page court brief, which is entirely handwritten, describes the woman as an "ambassador for plaintiffs God, and his son, Jesus Christ." The defendants listed in the lawsuit are "homosexuals," noting the group uses the "alis [alias], gay." The brief cites several Bible verses and argues "that homosexuality is a sin and that they the homosexuals know it is a sin to live a life of homosexuality. Why else would they have been hiding in the closet." Driskell cited the Biblical destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah as evidence of God's distaste for "immoral behavior." "I never thought that I would see a day in which our great nation or our own great state of Nebraska would become so compliant to the complicity of some peoples lewd behavior," Diskell wrote. "Why are judges passing laws, so sinners can break religious and moral laws. Will all the judges of this nation, judge God to be a lier [liar]." Driskell is representing herself in the lawsuit.
Pregnant Popeye's worker says she was fired for not replacing stolen cash
CHANNELVIEW, Texas (UPI) - A pregnant Texas woman said she was fired from a Popeye's eatery for refusing to repay about $400 stolen when she was robbed at gunpoint. Marissa Holcomb, a former shift manager at the Channelview eatery, said about $400 was taken in the March 31 armed robbery, which was recorded by security cameras, and the manager of the Popeye's location told her she would be fired if she didn't replace the stolen money. "I told them I'm not paying nothing," Holcomb told KHOU-TV. "I just had a gun to me. I'm not paying the money." Holcomb, who is pregnant with her fourth child, said she was fired less than 36 hours after the robbery. "I don't think it's right because now I'm struggling for my family because what I had to do to keep my life," she said.
A representative from the human resources department of franchise owner Z&H Foods Inc., the third-largest franchisee in the Popeye's chain, said Holcomb was fired for violating company policy by leaving too much money in the register. The representative said the incident wasn't Holcomb's first offense. The representative said the company was not aware of Holcomb being offered the chance to keep her job by repaying the money. Holcomb said the money hadn't been deposited into the store's safe because an offer for a $1.19 2-piece chicken meal had the store busier than usual. "They got what they got because that's what we made within one hour," she said.
Holcomb said she is worried she won't be able to find another job. "I mean who's gonna call me? I'm 5 months pregnant," she said. "The fact that I got robbed at gunpoint and it's like nobody cares."

Spanish politician poses nude for campaign poster
PORTUGALETE, Spain (UPI) - A candidate for local office in Spain's Basque region is campaigning by baring her body on a poster reading, "Politicians have left us stark naked." Yolanda Couceiro Morin, a town hall candidate in the town of Portugalete, released a campaign poster featuring her nude body covered only by her own hands and the slogan, "Politicians have left us stark naked." Morin, a member of the right-wing Partido por la Libertad - Manos Limpias, or "Party for Freedom - Clean Hands," told Spanish daily 20 minutos she hopes the "eye catching" ad will convince Portugalete voters to "focus on the problems of their neighbors." Morin's poster appears to take inspiration from a 2006 poster for centrist party Ciudadanos, which depicted party founder Albert Rivera striking a similar pose in the buff.
Comcast bill names customer as "Super B*tch"
ADDISON, Ill. (UPI) - An Illinois woman said she was shocked and outraged to discover her Comcast cable TV bill referred to her as "Super [expletive]," using a word for a female dog. Mary Bauer, 63, of Addison, said she had been having trouble with her Comcast TV service and she needed to have 39 visits from technicians between November 2013 and April 2014. Bauer said four months went by without her receiving a paper bill in the mail, and when one finally arrived in the mail Wednesday it was addressed to "Super B*tch Bauer." "This is a disgrace to me. Why are they doing this to me? I pay my bills. I do not deserve this," Bauer told WGN-TV. Comcast said the bill is under investigation and officials plan to contact Bauer for further information. The incident comes after Washington state resident Ricardo Brown received a Comcast bill addressed to "A**hole Brown," using a profanity in the place of the customer's first name. Comcast issued an apology to Brown and his wife. Story below
Comcast offers apology for changing customer's name to A**hole
A couple from Spokane, Washington discovered that after a dispute with Comcast their billing account had been renamed with profanity. After Ricardo and Lisa Brown argued over their bill with a customer service representative from Comcast things went from bad to worse. On their next monthly bill Ricardo Brown's name had been changed to "A**hole Brown." When the Brown's attempted to have the profanity removed and Ricardo's name restored they were met with opposition. The Brown's then contacted a consumer advocacy writer, Christopher Elliott, and the incident was reported. "You know employees talk about customers behind their back and say things like this," Elliott told CBS News. "But I've never seen anyone put something like this in writing. This falls into the category of 'What were they thinking?'" Elliot then contacted Steve Kipp, Comcast's vice president of communications in Washington, who said, "We have spoken with our customer and apologized for this completely unacceptable and inappropriate name change," he said. "We have zero tolerance for this type of disrespectful behavior and are conducting a thorough investigation to determine what happened. We are working with our customer to make this right and will take appropriate steps to prevent this from happening again." "I'm a bit stunned by this" said Elliott. "Comcast is a big company. They can't control all their employees. But you'd think this is part of the basic training they give to their employees -- don't call your customers a-holes."
Polish city bans Winnie-the-Pooh at playgrounds, claiming 'dubious' sexuality
TUSZYN, Poland (UPI) - Winnie-the-Pooh is being run out of town, and it's not for taking all the honey. The cartoon bear's image was banned from a playground in the small Polish city of Tuszyn because members of the town council believe him to be a hermaphrodite. The issue came up when it was proposed that Pooh be the patron of the playground. But the more conservative members of the council took issue with the fact he was only half-dressed. "It doesn't wear underpants because it doesn't have a sex. It's a hermaphrodite," said one Councillor. They had an explanation for why poor Pooh is of "dubious sexuality" and it's through no fault of his own but rather due to the cruelty of his author, A.A. Milne. "This is very disturbing but can you imagine! The author was over 60 and cut his [Pooh's] testicles off with a razor blade because he had a problem with his identity," said Councillor Hanna Jachimska. The patron of the playground has yet to be decided but Winnie-the-Pooh has been scratched off the list.
